News Release

Astronomy on the Hill
Come celebrate an Astronomy Weekend with the Peterborough Astronomical Association (PAA), the Peterborough Museum & Archives (PMA) and the Buckhorn Observatory on Saturday evening May 15th and Sunday May 16th.
Saturday, May 15th (8:00 to 11:00 p.m.)
Weather permitting - public observing session at Ashburnham Memorial Park (Armour Hill) with telescopes and other observing aids provided by the PAA and instruction by it’s members. This is a free event and for all ages too. Just dress appropriately for the weather. Parking is restricted access only, so be prepared to park at the PMA parking lot.
Sunday, May 16th (1:00 to 4:30 p.m.) there is continued free public oriented fun.
Weather permitting - public solar viewing outside the PMA buildings.

Inflatable Planetarium – under outdoor pavilion (4 shows between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.)

Light Pollution and other displays - Fine Portable & Sir Sandford Portable
- Award-winning science journalist and children’s author Peter McMahon will give a talk on space tourism, including a preview of his 2011 kids science experiment book on space tourism (2:00 p.m.)
- Kids program: Join author, journalist, and children’s programmer Peter McMahon for an hour of hands-on space fun, including a preview of his week-long kids science program in August that you can sign up for at the Museum (3:00 p.m.)
- Draws (18) for the Astronomy Weekend Raffle (4:00 p.m.)
