News Release

Come join the Peterborough Astronomical Association (PAA) celebrate The International Year of Astronomy (IYA), this coming Friday, January 30th, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., just past the Peterborough Museum and Archives, on Armour Hill. If the weather permits, there will be a variety of telescopes to view the heavens! There should be a beautiful crescent Moon and the planet Venus to view up close, before they set in the west. There will potentially be many other sights to see from constellations, to galaxies, to star clusters, and nebula! This evening will hopefully make up for the lack of viewing opportunities, due to cloudy skies, at the PAA launch of IYA on January 10th. Checkout the national website at: www.astronomy2009.ca
This evening event does depend on the weather though. Be sure to dress warm and come prepared to spend some quality time outside. If the telescopes cannot be pointed skyward on Friday evening, then there will be a potential back-up evening the following night, Saturday the 31st, the same time and place. For up to date information about this and many other events throughout the year visit the PAA website: www.peterboroughastronomy.com
This is an all ages, free public event for anyone who wants to explore the heavens with members of the PAA and see some of what Galileo was up to in 1609.
