Perseid Meteor Shower
Public Viewing Event

Come enjoy potentially great viewing conditions for the 2025 Perseid Meteor Shower with the Peterborough Astronomical Association (PAA).
This free, public, all ages event will potentially offer telescopic views of Mars, Saturn, star clusters, nebula, galaxies and the Moon, from the Harold Town Conservation Area—3.5km east of Television Road on the Old Norwood Road—Tuesday, August 12th, 9:00 p.m. until after midnight (weather permitting).
There is lots of parking and washrooms are available too. Dress appropriately for the weather and temperature. This is a weather dependent event.
If the skies are cloudy & precipitating, the event will be cancelled this evening. Be sure to check this page and/or the PAA’s Facebook page for updates on the status of this event.

- Why do I need to register?
- Actually you don’t! The PAA will never turn anyone away from our events for lack of a ticket. But, there are advantages. The primary advantage to getting tickets is that we’ll be better able to inform you if the event has to be postponed due to inclement weather or bad viewing conditions.
- Why was the event cancelled at the last minute?
- Naturally, astronomical viewing requires clear skies in order to see even the closest objects to us like the moon or meteors streaking through the upper atmosphere. As a result, we sometimes have to cancel events on the day of because of the weather and/or viewing conditions. Watch this page or register for the event to make sure you're aware as soon as cancellations happen.
